DCNC Sciences

Presentation

The Technological Institute for Data, Complex Networks & Cybersecurity Sciences of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, was born in April 2017 with the vocation of joining the efforts of professionals, scientists, universities, companies, university centers and institutes, and incorporating them to the new initiatives of promotion of research, training and dissemination of knowledge in data science, the analysis of complex networks.
The Technological Institute for Data, Complex Networks & Cybersecurity Sciences, or DCNC Sciences, was created to give continuity and a greater role to the training in cybersecurity that had been given intermittently from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in recent years.
A deeper knowledge that is based on the heritage of years of training in computer security issues made by prestigious entities with an intense investment in R & D at international level.

Objectives

A group of professors and researchers have joined and coordinated at the Institute, with the aim of promoting study, training and research in the disciplines related to data science, analysis of complex networks, cyber security and machine learning, in order to better understand the activity in these disciplines, disseminate the results and promote research in them.

Among its objectives are:

1

To promote research in data science, the analysis of complex networks, cyber security and machine learning, and to channel the research initiatives of the teaching staff in this field.

2

To respond to the demand for technical advice, consultancy and service provision in the sectors related to the sciences that are the object of the Institute.

3

To actively work towards the recognition of data sciences, complex networks and cyber security as areas of knowledge.

4

To contribute to the training of researchers in data science, analysis of complex networks, cyber security and machine learning, in order to promote the sustainable growth of a key activity in our social and economic environment. To collaborate in the dissemination of knowledge, research and information on data science, networks and cyber-security and machine learning.

5

Generate spaces for sharing knowledge and initiatives among the actors that make up the management bodies of the Institute: Researchers, Entrepreneurs, Manufacturers, Investors and Users of the DNC Sciences (Data, Networks & Cybersecurity).

6

To promote cooperation between universities and university centres and institutes.

Activities

The main activities of the DCNC Sciences Institute of Technology are to produce, apply, innovate and disseminate knowledge in the different areas that make up the activities related to the sciences that are the object of the institute, as well as to consolidate the visibility and academic prestige of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. To this purpose, the Technological Institute for Data, Complex Networks & Cybersecurity Sciences (DCNC Sciences) has a large and flexible group of professors and researchers from the URJC, as well as experts and professionals with proven experience and specialized training in the field of data science, complex network analysis, cyber security and machine learning.

We also have the heritage of years of research and dissemination on issues of Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence and Complex Networks in which we have organized since 2011, in others, a course every summer, within the framework of the URJC Summer Courses, dedicated specifically to the application of mathematics to cyber security, and giving more than 40 lectures in these years and culminating this year 2018 with an international event of first level that has been the organization in Madrid of the 15th Experimental Chaos and Complexity Conference.
